Hope you all enjoyed the June meeting. Ron Valley did an excellent job demonstrating how to make a sphere on the lathe. He took something that could be complicated and made it simple.
Those that were there in June should remember that we are trying something new with what we are going to call The Monthly Challenge. The idea is for everyone to try the technique that was demonstrated at the meeting and make something on your own lathe to bring to the next meeting. It doesn't have to be great, just try it and let the experience help develop you skills on the lathe.
To give you a little more incentive, there will be a special place at the next meeting to display this work and just by bringing something, you will be given a ticket for a drawing for a gift certificate from our sponsor at Winsor Plywood.
Here are some of the Show and Tell pieces from the June Meeting
A sample of the Raffle Table from June. If you are looking for some inexpensive but unique pieces to turn, this is a good source. Tickets are $1.00 each or 6 tickets for $5.00. All proceeds are to help the Club, so it is for a good cause.
You don't want to miss the July Meeting where Doug Eaton will show us how to make little bird house Christmas Tree ornaments. Ron Valley will have a quantity of blanks available for anyone wishing to participate in the Challenge. There will also be a demonstration of inside out turning. It should be an interesting evening. Don't miss it!
